Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) http://www.ucc.org
Our Church’s Wider Mission is the name we use to describe the work we do as a member of the United Church of Christ (UCC) beyond the local church through the UCC’s conferences, national ministries, and UCC institutions. The OCWM has two forms of support; (1) Basic Support and (2) Special Support.
Basic Support
Our Church's Wider Mission Basic Support provides funding for the work of UCC Conferences and for the work of the UCC's national ministries. Each congregation decides how much of its members' financial support it will contribute to Our Church's Wider Mission Basic Support. Congregations send their OCWM gifts to the Conference. Each Conference decides what percentage of those gifts to keep for the work of that particular Conference, and what percentage it will send to the national setting of the UCC. Some of the National Basic Support money is used for ministries to Conferences, local churches and members, as well as for ecumenical, prophetic and missionary ministries on behalf of the UCC.
Special Support
Our Church's Wider Mission Special Support comprises gifts to the four Special Mission Offerings in the United Church of Christ (One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthening the Church, Neighbors in Need, and Christmas Fund), per capita dues, and gifts that are specially designated for the Conference, national setting or UCC-related institutions. By mandate of the General Synod, each local church receives promotional material for the four Special Mission Offerings.
2007 Mission Outreach
The congregation approved additional mission outreach in this year’s budget to the Camp Medusa Capital Campaign; Camp Medusa Covenant Support; New York Conference Capital Campaign; Overseas Missionary; SUNY Albany Campus Ministry and Miscellaneous Missions. We are very proud our church gives more than 10% to support missions.
Conserns-U http://www.siena.edu/fcsa/consernsu.asp
This service program consists of the Food Pantry, crisis intervention, information and referral, advocacy, clothing, back to school and Christmas projects. Casework services are provided to individual families in the Capital District.
East Greenbush Cooperative Ministries
The organization is an association of churches of all denominations in the East Greenbush community. The purpose is to promote communication between different faiths.
Stewardship
Our church prospers from the time (participation in church events) , talents (donation of ideas and abilities) and treasures (financial support) of our members. We are a progressive church that welcomes new members with open arms. We are always accepting new members and support from friends of the church.

The agency located in Albany, NY provides emergency overnight shelter for adults. Day program and evening program offer counseling and referral services, educational and information groups. Volunteers are needed to assist with the breakfast program, the clothing pantry, employment, housing and experiential programs. Students in various majors can gain valuable experience. These include Africana studies, art; communication, computer science, math, music, sociology and women's studies
Camp Medusa http://www.hmaucc.org/camp.html
Located in the Catskills south of Albany, Camp Medusa is owned and operated by the Hudson Mohawk Association of the New York Conference of the United Church of Christ. It is a camp ground facility staffed by volunteers who are recruited through area UCC churches according to mandates of the NY State Public Health Code. Its goal is to create an atmosphere where it is possible for persons to have "an experience in Christian living."
Church related activities that are the core of the outdoor ministry during the vacation weekend consist of a vespers service and campfire program each evening, leaving most of the day free for family selected activities.
Pennies for Haven
Pennies for Haven is an annual fundraising campaign of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless located on Sheridan Avenue in Albany, NY. Each year during the months of November and December individuals and congregations come together to raise money for Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless. These funds assist with many expenses that the shelter incurs throughout the year. Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless provides the less fortunate in our community essentials to help them find success in their lives. It is the goal of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless to end homelessness one penny at a time.
Pennies for People
Pennies for People was started in the New York Conference and was based on the idea of the old “Cent Societies” of the 1830’s and 1840’s. The pennies collected are sent to the NY State UCC Conference and are used to provide grants to Women’s Groups in the Conference who are involved in ministries to women and/or children.
